The Soul of April:

OVER the wintry threshold
Who comes with joy to-day,
So frail, yet so enduring,
To triumph o’er dismay?

Ah, quick her tears are springing,
And quickly they are dried,
For sorrow walks before her,
But gladness walks beside.

She comes with gusts of laughter,—
The music as of rills;
With tenderness and sweetness,—
The wisdom of the hills.

Her hands are strong to comfort,
Her heart is quick to heed.
She knows the signs of sadness,
She knows the voice of need.

There is no living creature,
However poor or small,
But she will know its trouble
And hasten to its call.

Oh, well they fare forever,
By mighty dreams possessed,
Whose hearts have lain a moment
On that eternal breast.

  1. LeAnn that's a beautiful poem and you make me dream of gardening. Tomorrow, I get to dig tomorrow. That woven seat around the tree above is amazing! You've given me a few ideas here with these stunning pictures.

  2. Blissful,April Child, Just guessing, but is April the birth month of the "enchanting" LeAnn?If so I wish you serendipitous surprises throughout the month. Okay… even if it isn't, I wish this for you! Thanks for sharing so much beauty with all of us. Namaste, Redema

  3. Hi, Debra. Hope you are enjoying gardening weather where you are. We are having a bit of rain today, but we all know what these April showers bring so I'll be patient and enjoy a bit of indoor activity today. Thanks for stopping by. xo~L

  4. Welcome, Jody! I just visited your blogs…loved seeing the baby hummingbirds. This year we have a mother nesting in the tree just outside our living room window. I worried about her during a big rain storm we had a couple of days ago but she seems to have coped fine.
Happy you found linen & lavender. I'll be visiting you again soon, too. Warmly~LeAnn
