Our Mika Girl

In all the renovation work we’ve done, nothing has made our house a home as much as having our Mika Girl come to live with us.

Much Love Animal Rescue shows available dogs in Santa Monica across from the Farmers Market on Sundays and this is where we first saw Mika- though that wasn’t her name then. She had already been given two different names in her unstable little life and neither of them felt right to us.  It was a new beginning and we decided her name should have meaning and significance…Read the full story  [here]

much love exists to rescue abused, neglected and homeless animals from the streets and shelters of Los Angeles and place them in loving homes. Much Love is a 100% non-profit organization run entirely by dedicated volunteers who offer their time and resources to house, train, transport and care for these animals.   Since its inception in 1999, Much Love has placed over 3,000 animals into loving homes.

ANIMAL RESCUE

I talk to him when I’m lonesome like;
And I’m sure he understands.
When he looks at me so attentively,
And gently licks my hands;
Then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes,
But I never say naught there at.
For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes,
But never a friend like that.

  1. After reading Mika's story I had to go hug our Dylan dog tighty. Mika's story is sad and wonderful I'm so glad she found her forever home with you. No home is complete without a dog, they make it a home and I hope all those beautiful babies you've pictured find therre home. Thank you for sharing about your friend Mika.

  2. Thanks so much Debra. I know many people reading this post won't be able to adopt from Much Love based here in California, but I hope it is a reminder to all that really wonderful dogs are waiting for a home at rescue shelters everywhere.
    Our Mika gets lots of hugs throughout the day, but even more while I was in the process of putting this post together. Hugs to you –and Dylan!
    Have a great day. xo~LeAnn
